The Essentials 1988- 1990
The Essentials were a three-piece guitar-based power pop group based in Townsville, North Queensland. Known for their energetic live performances the band performed frequently around North Queensland at venues like The James Cook Tavern, Tattersalls Hotel and at shows run by local community radio station 4TTT. Late in 1988 they travelled to Brisbane to record their debut single Saint/Love is Strange before heading to Sydney for some gigs before deciding to relocate there permanently in early 1989.
