A while back i wrote an article for The Conversation about teaching yourself to be a music producer. This seemed to be offensive to some, who disputed the context of what constitutes a music producer. In the article i expressed the idea that anyone with the inclination to learn this skill could learn how to do it through on-line resources. Some felt that the term music producer only applied to the traditional context of the George Martin's of this world. While they may have been right that this is the traditional application of the term music producer, but i'd have to argue that in the contemporary context a multi-skilled artist is also responsible for taking on this role. What do you think?
